Courtesy of Frederieke Taylor. While Lisa Sigal is best known for large, site-specific installations, this show will consist of her smaller works on paper and vellum. Sigal's new works are delicately layered drawings, densely overlaid like the urban landscape, a place that is layered with time, experience, and chance. With this work, Sigal continues her exploration of the space between flat abstraction and illusion while using layers of painted paper and lines that allow the suggestion of architectural space.
Some of Sigal's recent and current shows include Make It Now at the Sculpture Center, A House of Many Mansions, at the Aldrich Museum, Odd Lot's, at White Columns and Surface Charge at the Anderson Gallery.
