The Independent Drawing Gig (IDG) is an international art crossover project initiated by Linas Jablonskis in Vilnius, Lithuania in 2005. A hybrid of live music and drawing, the exhibition emphasizes the collision of the underground music scene with the world of independent art, a world in which drawing plays a particularly important role. To quote Jablonskis, “IDG is about experience and energy, independent spirit and critical value.”

The first edition of IDG took place in Vilnius in 2005, with subsequent editions being hosted in Skopje (Macedonia) by The Museum of Contemporary Art in 2006 and in The Hague (Netherlands) as a part of the citywide Ground 2 Art Festival in 2007. The fourth edition (to be held over the course of a week in October 2008) will be staged in multiple cities around the world in various spaces, ranging from galleries to private spaces of previous participants of IDG. IDG4 will also be the first to be streamed live on the IDG website. This will allow the diverse groups participating to connect and interact with each other.
