J.G. Zimmerman, He was a wingman, 2004/2005. Courtesy of Christopher Henry Gallery.Christopher Henry Gallery is pleased to present Fluid Dynamics, the first solo show of J.G. Zimmerman.
In this collection of photographs Zimmerman celebrates the innate beauty in mechanics. Though the functional forms are the inspiration, the compositions open the dialogue to the spirituality of transformational forms that have helped mankind transcend his physical limitations. In these mechanical artifacts of human achievements Zimmerman sees life: its accomplishments, its failures, its growth, its decay. Pieced together they form an understanding and contextualization of these systems by unlocking their inherent ethos, pathos, and empathy. The remnants become a landscape of lost thoughts - an anthropological meditation on discarded divinations.
This summer his work will also be featured in Hunterdon Art Museum, Clinton, NJ.
